Apple MacBook Air

The MacBook Air notebook has been a source of curiosity for more for quite a while. A product refresh in a series of products is always something Apple fans are eager to look for. The popularity itself makes it one of the most rumored devices in the tech news world.

Question that always pops in the back of my mind is that it is small but does it have the horse power to do some of the things I want it to do. Photoshop, dreamweaver, flash, final cut, etc. Well I finally got my hands on one.

Both the 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air now feature the latest generation of Intel processors, the Core i5 and i7. With speeds up to 1.8GHz and faster memory, the new MacBook Air gains up to 2.5x the processing performance over the previous generation.1MacBook Air also features the Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor, which includes an on-chip engine for video encoding and decoding. That means you experience video playback and FaceTime calls that are smoother, more responsive, and more true to life.

4 gigs of ram, Thunderbolt drives, intel processors, flash drive and the new Lion OSX. It is a quick machine but definitely not a “main machine” with just a Thunderbolt and USB port on it. Even my MacBook Pro runs out of usb ports on occasion. Video graphics are not nearly as fast with the video processing either, definitely a lag.

Overall now that I have had a chance to play with one, I still want one even though it is not a practical as it it could be. But then would they have to make it bigger to accommodate all the features?
